PENGARUH BANTUAN DAN PERILAKU TERHADAP KEMANDIRIAN PETANI DI KECAMATAN MUNGKAJANG
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of the suitability of assistance and behavior on the independence of farmer groups in Mungkajang District, Palopo City. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method on 84 rice field farmers who were members of farmer groups in four sub-districts, namely Mungkajang, Murante, Latuppa, and Kambo Villages. The data analysis technique uses Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the help of the SmartPLS 4 application. The research variables consisted of the suitability of assistance and behavior as exogenous variables and the independence of farmer groups as endogenous variables. The results of the study show that the suitability of assistance does not have a significant effect on the independence of farmer groups. This shows that assistance in the form of alsintan, seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural production facilities has not been able to directly increase the independence of farmer groups because there are still obstacles in the management of aid, maintenance of alsintan, and institutional capacity of farmer groups. On the other hand, farmer behavior had a positive and significant effect on the independence of the farmer group with a t-statistic value of 5.024 and a p-value of 0.000. Farmer behavior, which includes knowledge, skills, motivation, and attitude towards innovation, is the main factor in shaping farmers' ability to manage farming independently. The knowledge indicator has the highest loading factor value so that it becomes a dominant factor in shaping farmer behavior. The R-Square value of 0.726 shows that the variables of suitability of assistance and behavior are able to explain the independence of farmer groups by 72.6%. This study concludes that strengthening the capacity of human resources, farmer behavior, and farmer group institutions is more important than material assistance alone in creating farmer group independence. Therefore, sustainable agricultural development needs to be focused on improving the quality of human resources through counseling, training, and empowerment of farmer groups
