THE USE OF NATURAL FEED ADDITIVES WITH DIFFERENT PROCESSING METHODS ON THE MORPHOMETRICS OF 28-DAY-OLD BROILER CHICKENS

Abstract

The use of synthetic feed additives, especially antibiotic growth promoters (AGP), in livestock has now been banned by the government because it has the potential to leave residues in livestock products. Therefore, herbal plants are a potential alternative as a natural feed additive to replace the use of synthetic feed additives. This study aims to determine the use of natural feed additives with different processing methods and their effects on the morphometrics of broiler chickens aged up to 28 days. The method used in this study is the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 3 treatments and 9 replications, consisting of R0: Providing drinking water without herbs (control), R1: Providing drinking water + 18.9 ml of boiled herbs, and R2: Providing drinking water + 18.9 ml/L of distilled herbs. The parameters measured were back length, wing length, tibia length, chest width, head circumference, and shank length. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance; the statistical results obtained had a significant effect, followed by the Duncan test. The analysis results showed that the administration of herbs with different methods had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the increase in back length, wing length, tibia length, chest width, and head circumference, while it had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the increase in shank length of broiler chickens. It was concluded that the use of natural feed additives with a distilled processing method provided the best results for broiler chicken morphometrics.
